Canadian-born, Lisette Belisle grew up in New Hampshire, New England, USA. She currently lives in upstate New York with her engineer husband, Frank—her biggest supporter. She'd like readers to know that Cupid can strike any time, in any place. In her case, it was Howdy Beefburgers. How romantic! At the age of 19, she spent the next six months trying to convince herself it had to be infatuation because love couldn't possibly happen that fast. It did. Over forty later, she's still infatuated, and deeply in love with the man she married. She credits her husband for helping her to get published by dragging her into the age of technology.
How did she choose writing? Actually, it chose her. At the impressionable age of 10, Lisette read a book about a nurse who went around saving everyone, and she decided that was exactly what she wanted to do. Many years, many books, a nursing career, and three children later, she discovered that the author of that book had inspired her, as well as the nurse, and that it was time she put her own thoughts and feelings into a book. Romance novels were a natural choice. Apart from the essentially upbeat message, where else would she find heroines who went around saving people? A Waldenbooks bestselling author and Romantic Times reviewers' choice finalist, Lisette writes stories about ordinary people doing extraordinary things and overcoming the odds. Finding true love along the rocky path to happiness is the ultimate reward.
Lisette has three children and five grandchildren. Family comes first in her life—which won't surprise any of her readers. What are a few of Lisette's favorite things? Perhaps her grandson said it best in an essay he wrote when he was nine years old—"My memere (French for Gran) like to write books, travel, and spend time with her grandchildren." That says it all. In addition to raising her own family, volunteering with Girl Scouts, Head Start, PTA, and church groups fostered a life-long concern for children's welfare. Blessed with a secure childhood, Lisette wishes every child could feel loved and safe, and she continues to work toward that goal. It's also a recurring theme in her books, along with overcoming trauma, whether it's emotional, physical, or spiritual.
An unapologetic idealist, Lisette's message to readers is clear—believe in yourself and believe in love. It's an unbeatable combination.
