A mid- 20th century mystery - a good read for those of us who enjoy "British" language and interwoven plot. It features Jonathan Gaunt who works for the Scottish government's Rememberancer's Office. In this volume he is sent to Portugal in search of information regarding a potential archeological stash left undiscovered following the death of a professional archeologist. He finds himself involved in much more. Some interesting background about Portugal and no endless pages of explicit details about things some truly mentally disturbed person does to someone else.
