Armentrout family history, 1739-1978
Russell S. Armentrout
Documents the history of the Armentrout/Ermentraudt family from their arrival in America in 1739 until 1978.
Widow Anna Elizabeth Armentrout/Ermentraudt and her 7 children first settled in Lancaster County, PA. The mother and 5 sons moved to Rockingham County in 1752 where the family was a moving force in the building of the second Peaked Mountain Church in 1769. Later the 6th son moved to the Valley.
Mr. Armentrout’s 800+ page book gives details about the 7 children of Anna Elizabeth Armentrout. It is much more than a listing of birth and death dates. As much as possible he wrote a brief history of each family. There are copies of original documents as well as about 220 photographs, some dating back to the 1860s. The Society will include an appendix of corrections that are received before July 30, 2000.
