Celebrating the lectionary for primary grades 2011-2012
Vicki Lopez Kaley
Celebrating the Lectionary is the catechist's go-to resource for faith formation on the Lectionary and the liturgical year. This supplementary resource helps you to bring the richness of the Lectionary and the liturgical year into your traditional faith formation or Catholic school program with easy-to-lead, 20-minute, no-prep sessions that can be adapted on the spot to meet the unique needs of your group. This resource includes materials for every Sunday and holy day of obligation from August 7, 2011, through June 24, 2012.
Each Celebrating the Lectionary session includes: an Opening Ritual, a quick reflection on the Liturgical Season and any relevant solemnities, feasts, or memorials using a liturgical year calendar, an adapted version of the Sunday Gospel, an age-appropriate, fun Gospel Reflection that helps young people to undersand the reading as it relates to their own lives and experiences, A Focus on Church Teaching section that helps you see how the message of the Sunday lectionary corresponds with major Church documents, suggestions for quick Gospel-related activities, requiring few special materials or preparation, that help children to put Gospel message into actions, and a CD-ROM containing Prayers and Blessings at Home sheet that can be photocopied and sent home in order to encourage ongoing catechesis in the home with simple suggestions for family prayers, reflection, and activities.
