Corona 2020-2021

On March 16, 2021, Prime Minister Mark Rutte addressed the country about the corona crisis. His message: The coronavirus will affect a large part of the population and the pandemic will last for months or more. So for a year now. For this issue we asked fifty photographers who have ever published in Hollandse Beelden to send in their photo of the Covid-19 pandemic. That could be anything: home, family, the dog, the garden, the larger habitat, the street, a renovation. But also rest, reflection, the approaching death and contemplation. Thirty-six photographers sent their images that they have made in the past twelve months. From folders with news photos, a single photo to complete picture stories about the flowers in your own garden, students from a pre-vocational secondary school, father who still spends the days on his three-seater sofa and Ruth who has to watch with sorrow how her sister Miriam with Down syndrome is rapidly deteriorating. But above all, these are all outpourings and the images in this issue form a moving and very personal document of these turbulent times

Op 16 maart 2021 sprak premier Mark Rutte het land toe over de coronacrisis. Zijn boodschap: het coronavirus zal een groot deel van de bevolking treffen en de pandemie zal nog maanden of langer duren. Nu dus al een jaar. Voor dit nummer hebben wij vijftig fotografen die ooit hebben gepubliceerd in Hollandse Beelden gevraagd om hun foto van de Covid-19-pandemie op te sturen. Dat kon van alles zijn: thuis, gezin, de hond, de tuin, de grotere habitat, de straat, een verbouwing. Maar ook rust, reflectie, de naderende dood en overpeinzing.0 Zesendertig fotografen stuurden hun beelden die zij hebben gemaakt in de afgelopen twaalf maanden. Van mappen met nieuwsfoto's, een enkele foto tot complete beeldverhalen over de bloemen in de eigen tuin, scholieren van een vmbo-school, vader die de dagen nog steeds op zijn driezitsbank doorbrengt en Ruth die met lede ogen moet aanzien hoe haar zus Miriam met het syndroom van Down snel achteruit gaat.0 Maar bovenal zijn het allemaal ontboezemingen en vormen de beelden in dit nummer een ontroerend en zeer persoonlijk document van deze woelige tijden
