Salomon was caught by the British twice and sentenced to death twice, but his financial knowledge and his linguistic talent of fluently speaking 7 languages, kept him alive, as he was paymaster for the British and Spy for Washington. From New York to Philadelphia, Haym Salomon helped the Cause. He gave over $400,000 of his own money. In 1975, The United States Postal Service, honored Salomon as a Financial Hero of The American Revolution.
