Vannevar Bush was a professor at MIT best known for his work in analog computing carried out in the 1930s. He led high profile projects such as the Rockefeller differential analyzer and famously sketched out a speculative model for information retrieval called Memex, which many now see as an early conceptual pre-cursor to hypertext.
