There is a way to overcome our basic fears! Faith produces virtuous fear while distrust produces vicious fear. Vicious fear is from the Devil, and it causes us to think of God as a horrible avenger, but Christ's love casts out all fear; then, we see Him as our compassionate Redeemer from our sin and fear.
