Hugo Simberg (1873-1917) was a Finnish Symbolist whose paintings are populated by loveable devils, compassionate Grim Reapers, and other engaging characters from the artist's rich imagination. His psychologically revealing portraits also show deep insight into the inner world of his sitters. The Gösta Serlachius Fine Arts Foundation owns 40 works by Simberg, including both paintings and a sizeable collection of graphic art. This book presents a selection of Simberg's art from the Serlachius collections. Gösta's Little Art Library is series of publications produced by the Serlachius Museums featuring Gösta Serlachius's favourite artists and gems from his exquisite collection.
