Asepsis And Antisepsis Communicable Disease Nosocomial Infections

In 1996, the CDC revised their list of Universal Precautions in health care, which impacted existing American nursing assistant textbooks. This 36-page color booklet described how the changes in infection control evolved and affected medical practices. It was printed slightly smaller than average size so it could be inserted into a textbook, and was cited as an updated companion to 7 popular Delmar titles. Because it took so long for the CDC's changes to be cited in commonly-used textbooks and the internet was still relatively primitive, the booklet fetched high prices for many years after it went out of print.

A fairly early published work of prolific nursing author Barbara Acello, she made it a family affair. She herself, husband Francis and son Jon took photographs at Kern Manor in Pilot Point, Texas (where all of her immediate family had worked at different times in various capacities), and the models included daughter Laura and Jon's husband, Dennis Clarkson, who were both CNA's. The negatives from this shoot were turned over to the publishers, and since they included the models practicing then-new CDC standards, Delmar went on to reuse the pics in countless medical publications.
