Kocia Mama i jej przygody

The book takes place in 10s or 20s of the XX century. Its main character is an eight year old Sophie (called "Zochna" in the original). She lives happily with her parents, sibilings and servants in a country. She is not a typical a lady-like girl, but rather a tomboy. Her greatest passion are the animals, mostly cats (that is why people call her "Kocia Mama", which means "Cats' Mother"). Unfortunately this love of hers for them makes her get into a big trouble very often, and eventually, makes her suffer a lot.

The book is based on the author's own experience of growing up in a Polish country.
