The edition discusses configuration and forms of art representation of the King of Spain, power, its representation and the aesthetic richness that flourished under the protection of high societies in Spain and the Viceroyalty through a selection of close to 200 art works, objects and documents. The catalogue brings together novo Hispanic masters along with important Spanish painters, including José Juárez, Cristóbal de Villalpando, Miguel Cabrera, Santiago Rebull, Pantoja de la Cruz, Francisco de Zurbarán, Jean Ranc, Diego Velázquez, Francisco de Goya, amongst others. The extraordinary pieces are from the holdings of the Colecciones Reales del Patrimonio Nacional de España, National Museum of El Prado, Museum Lázaro Galdiano, Museum of the América, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Hispanic Society, and Mexican collection from Museo Nacional de Arte, Museo Nacional de San Carlos, Museo Nacional de Historia, Museo Nacional del Virreinato, Museo Franz Mayer and private collections.
