The book is about Latvian composers and their works. Especially the works - with many examples from them: the book is adressed mainly to music colleges. The edition covers the whole history of Latvian music; from its beginnings to the contemporaneity in 18 portrays and some general reflections about the evolution of stylistics (Jānis Cimze, Baumaņu Kārlis - Arturs Maskats, Ēriks Ešenvalds). Some provocative (yes!) questions, themes for discussions and essays, short explanations for lecturers are added as well.
