The Johann Heinrich Michael Linse family came from Walschleben, Prussia, Germany in 1848. Settled first in Wisconsin. Family later lived in Minnesota, South Dakota, then to Yakima, WA.

The Johann Valentin "Schlegel" family came from Sonneborn, Prussia, Germany in 1850. Settled first in Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. Some family moved to Marshall County, South Dakota where spelling of name was changed to "Schlagel".
Schlagels met the Linse family in Marshall County, SD. Two Schlagels married two Linses and moved to Yakima, WA.
