ABSTRACT: This project examines the extent and environmental acceptability of burying and drilling waste solids produced by petroleum exploration. A major problem may be soil compaction from the operation of heavy equipment. The study outlines chemical characteristics of fresh water, salt water and invert muds. The legislation involving burial of drilling waste is also examined.
