Mathurin Méheut

This book raises the question of art and science in the representation of the underwater world by Mathurin Meheut. During his stay in the laboratory of Roscoff (1910-1912), the painter accumulated studies of animals and vegetal observed in marine aquarium. This rich matter, gathered in the study of the sea, all his work fed marine decorator. Whatever the chosen art form (illustration, ceramics, sculpture or large decor) and the degree of stylization, Mathurin Meheut never forgot his disciplined approach which ultimately translated into a personal aesthetic expression.
