Negros azules

Photographic exhibition hels at the Galeria de Arte Humberto Hernándea Centro Cultural Colombo Americano June 13-, 2019-July 19, 2019. The artist portrays the characters of the Danza de los Negros Azules, a cultural expression whose origins date back to the beginning of the last century in Carreto, a corregimiento in the south of the Atlantic. The project seeks to preserve the visual heritage of the Danza de los Negros Azules. The dancers who walk the streets of Barranquilla every February become a cultural bastion of the Carnival. Their steps record part of the experiences of the palenques in the Colombian Caribbean. The images of this project help to understand the idiosyncrasy of the culture of the Colombian north coast.
