Although the story briefly deals somewhat with the family of Scott "Scotty" Rohwer; it mainly is a story of the WWII experiences of him from the time of his enlistment in the Army Air Corp until his discharge. It gives a combat mission to mission detail of his experiences in the 340th Bomb Group, 486th Bomb Squadron. The details of each of his 67 combat missions are given, including the awarding of his Air Medals and Distinguished Flying Cross, his meeting of his future wife, and his marriage upon returning to his home state of Washington.
