The book comprises a series of works done between 1979 and 1986 by artist León Ferrari (Buenos Aires, 1920-2013), during his exile in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. Referring to this period of his artistic career, León said: "It was a time of much experimentation and incorporation of other media: the Letraset, the photocopy, the engraving, the stamp, the heliography, the postal art, the planes. Figuration also began to appear, with clear elements such as those of architecture, that was like receiving a gift. I have to say that my image changed, because when using the Letraset I was arriving at figurative conceptions.ʺ The series included maintain a precise axis: to elaborate vocabularies and imaginary scenes that, from the free connection of elements, alter the rules of language. The images are dissimilar: artifacts of dwellings, alphabets, people, animals, trees. Different combinations are repeated, again and again, composing situations that, in some cases, include the ink stroke and the application of stamps. The invention of new symbolic systems that create a true visual poetry and, at the same time, promote a powerful reflection on the visual codes with which we live, disarticulating their meanings, uses and functions. In the year 2004 Leon Ferrari designed on his computerʺPlanos y Papelesʺ with the same certainty with which he published HomenseImagensʺ in 1984 and 1986, during his exile in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. It was then that he created the publishing labels: Licopodio and Edicões Exu.ʺ (HKB Translation) Page 17.
