It is a very datailed history of the portuguese contribution to the preliminary works to build the concilium under pope Clement VII and to the following works in Trento under popes Paul III, Julius III and Pius IV (1545-1563). In the concilium final conclusions and decisions, Fr. Bartolomeu dos Mártires, arcebishop of Braga (northern Portugal) was one of the most influent participants.
