Rainer Krause

The island [recognition] is presented as a visual and sound installation that is mutating from new collaborations. The project is based on mutual contributions between authors and the public, in an net.art-genre that in its production is directly linked to the internet- as a connection support between actors and places. This way, the internet is both a means of artistic creation and a field of socialization of the same. "The cartography in construction of the art installation/project 'The island [recognition]' contemplates the eternal detail of the frontier between land and sea, and it proposes itself as a device of approach between the fidelity of the drawing and the sonority of a landscape. With a technological prose based in the register apparatuses and the abundance of information, this project proposes clear and simple rules for building a new map, thus building a new symbol for understanding a territory. Assuming the dimension of time, it deploys a fifth sonorous dimension, that makes the coast a field of action and a source of documentation capable of drawing by tracing the details of an island called South America. Rainer Krause, along with Fernando Pérez, Ignacio Szmulewicz and Daniel Reyes León authors invited by the artist -, give an account in this book of the work process and the reflections revolving sonority, the landscape and cartography, contextualizing the project in the relations that weave the complexity of a work to be built, with the challenge of promoting a collaboration that is at the same time the motor and end of the project."--Verso Cover.
