Rio, papel e lápis
Cássio Loredano
Renowned caricaturist in Brazil and abroad, Cássio Loredano (b. Rio e Janeiro 1948) presents for the first time a perspective of his city in "Rio, paper and pencil". The 61 drawings, made between 2014 and 2015 commended by the Instituto Moreira Salles, portrais the city of Rio de Janeiro away from cliches, in which nature is just a backstage for the beauty built of historical buildings with and affective importance for Loredano. Incorporated into the collection of IMS, the drawings reveal a little known Rio -The church of Nossa Senhora da Cabeça, hiding in the Botanical Garden, the bridge of the Jesuits, in Santa Cruz- with a new look at downtown, most portrayed in a traditional way. From a screenplay made from memory, Loredano visited with photographer Aílton Silva the selected places and used these photos to create his drawings, using graphite, India ink, pen and watercolor. The book marks the 450th anniversary of the city.
