The Icelandic Folk and Outsider Art Museum, founded in 1995 by Niels Hafstein and Magnhildur Sigurdardóttir, is located at Svalbardsströnd by Eyjafjördur in north Iceland. The museum's main objective is to collect, research, exhibit and preserve folk and outsider art. The museum has been acknowledged for its original exhibition policy, where all forms of visual art are celebrated, whether made by professional or self-taught artists. This book, 'Showcase', is the first in a series of books introducing the museum's collection to the broader public, the objective being to cast light on Icelandic outsider art and claim the recognition it deserves.
