Taking sides

This volume presents current controversial issues surrounding social psychology in a debate-style format designed to stimulate student interest and develop critical thinking skills. Social psychology is the scientific study of how people's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are influenced by the actual, imagined, or implied presence of others. This topic is framed with a general summary and introduction, and a postscript or challenge questions. This work features an annotated listing of selected World Wide Web sites and an online instructor's resource guide with testing material available. This book's 18 issues are organized into four different sections. The first section of the book deals with ethical issues in the social psychology. Each of the next three sections reflects one of the major sub-fields within social psychology. One section examines some of the debates surrounding research in social cognition, another section will address contentious issues in social influence research, and the final portion of the book investigates the controversies in social relations.
