When Detective Sergeant Jessica Jones of the Special Branch Protection Unit is commanded by her superior to take a month's leave because he feels stress is affecting her judgement, she is both resentful and frustrated; she thinks she is being slowly ousted from the job she loves. With a month to kill she accepts the job of recovering the missing son of a millionaire - and a journey to Nigeria that seems on the surface to be perfectly straightforward. It turns out to be anything but, and Jessica and her partner Andrea find themselves in the middle of a terrifying adventure which takes them from the hidden reed beds of Lake Chad to the windswept sands of the Sahara Desert.
