Tribune Quintus Gaius Caesar, co-head of the Praetorian Guard in Rome, is dispatched to Judea on behalf of Emperor Tiberius to find out how it was that the carpenter son of a virgin had risen from the dead after being crucified. He investigates all aspects of the trial, execution, and after-death appearances of Jesus to make a complete report before the Emperor.
