The Robins in Gaspé, 1766 to 1825

In the 18th century, Charles Robin (1743-1824), a native of the Isle of Jersey, became the leading merchant and fish exporter on the Gaspé coast. His family dominated the cod fishery of the Bay of Chaleur from 1766 to 1825. While primarily the story of a family business, this study also gives insight into the Gaspé Peninsula's colorful social history.

Covers the coastal area of the Gaspé Peninsula located in the counties of Gaspé-Est and Bonaventure.
