Viscount Gracechurch has lost everything at a game of cards to Lord Edward Vane. Vane offers him another wager though, to see if the viscount can seduce a mysterious widow within five days. Gracechurch takes up the wager but unaccountably finds himself far more attracted to the widow than he expected. And determined to protect her from the enemies she has acquired.
