The Snake River Fork Country
Samuel M. Beal
A little monograph which describes a limited field of southeastern Idaho history, was written upon assignment from the Rexburg Stake Presidency. The occasion which gave rise to the effort, was the erection of a monument in honor of the Rexburg Stake pioneers. Reference to the explorers and trappers has been necessarily brief to avoid reaching beyond the scope outlined, and not because of any lack of appreciation of the fur traders' activities. The material used largely consists of Mormon church records, together with numerous dictations which were obtained from the remaining early settlers. Much data of biographical interest has been omitted for the sake of brevity. It is hoped that this phase of Upper Snake River Valley history may be published at a later date.
