Upon pulling his ship, which is named the Nicolette, into port, Captain Fairbury put up a handwritten employment notice. On the day he specified to apply, the last man standing from several applicants wasn't a man, but Charlie Blackwell. Being the only one left Charlie was hired on the spot. As Charlie's local pastor tries to persuade otherwise before they lift anchor, Captain Fairbury whispers something which makes him instantly change his tune. Once they are out at sea, new challenges arise in which both seriously question whether or not Charlie should have come.
