Wuthering Heights [adaptation]

One of the great romantic novels of English literature, Wuthering Heights is set against the wild and isolated Yorkshire moors. Wuthering Heights is home to the Earnshaw family who adopt an orphan called Heathcliff. Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff become friends and as they grow older their relationship deepens. But Catherine decides to marry Edgar Linton from the big house across the moor, Thrushcross Grange, since she feels it would degrade her to marry Heathcliff. Heathcliff runs away and returns a few years later as a 'gentleman'. A series of events start to destroy the relationship between the Lintons and the Earnshaws, some with disastrous consequences...
